We encountered an adult with left atrium to right ventricular communication after corrective surgery for endocardial cushion defect of the partial type, which was diagnosed by color Doppler echocardiography. This rare communication results from the anatomical characteristics of the endocardial cushion defect: both the tricuspid and mitral vales are located at the same level relative to the cardiac apex. Color Doppler echocardiography proved quite useful for this diagnosis.
