To predicting lethal fetal pulmonary hypoplasia, nomograms of eight different ultrasonographic fetal parameters were established by studying uncomplicated single-fetus pregnancies, with well-established dates, between 18 and 40 weeks of gestation. The studied parameters were able to reflect fetal lung mass and included the following: thorax circumference (TC), thorax area (TA), thorax area minus heart area (TA-HA) , lung area (LA) , thorax circumference / abdominal circumference (TC / AC), thorax area / heart area (TA/HA), thorax area minus heart area / thorax area [(TA-HA) / TA] and lung area /thorax area (LA/ TA). The efficacy of each of the eight parameters were determined by studying 8 fetuses at high risk for development of lethal pulmonary hypoplasia and 30 fetuses at risk for premature rupture of membranes
