Therapeutic experiences on hepatic cysts by absolute ethanol instillation were summarized. A total of 8 cases consisting of extremely large single cyst to multiple cysts formation were treated essentially according to the regimen reported by Bean et al using direct drainage under US-guidance. To avoid incomplete therapeutic effect, drainage was continued and ethanol treatment were repeated twice a week until significant reduction in the size of the cyst occurred. Follow up study confirmed excellent therapeutic effects.
