　Ultrasonographic findings in a case of acute emphysematous cholecystitis were described. A broad band of strong echoes with acoustic shadowing produced by gas within the lumen and wall of the gallbladder was demonstrated in the gallbladder fossa. Ultrasonographic differential diagnosis was difficult because of the complication of cholelithiasis. It seemed that the diagnosis should be comfirmed by abdominal plain radiograph or computed tomogram.
