Comparison between redistribution of MPI and diastolic strain analysis of echocardiography during adenosine stress in patients with CAD

【aim】
The aim was to investigate myocardial ischemia during adenosine stress using diastolic strain analysis of echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease.
【subject and method】
Seven patients (Age: 67±8 yrs; Male: 7) with coronary artery disease were recruited, All of them performed adenosine stress myocardial perfusion imaging with echocardiography. Redistribution was defined visually and strain imaging diastolic index was calculated on a 17 segments model.
【results】
A total of 119 segments were evaluated. Based on the results of adenosine stress SPECT, 66 segments were classified as normal segments, 43 as redistribution segments and 10 segments as infarction segments. Twenty one of 43 redistribution segments (49%) were revealed non ischemia by strain imaging diastolic index. Twenty two of 43 redistribution segments (51%) were revealed true ischemia.
【Conclusions】
Our data showed half of findings of redistribution during adenosine stress myocardial imaging were relative hypo-perfusion, not ischemia.
