Torsion of the gallbladder is a relatively rare pathologic condition, and the literature contains only one report describing its color Doppler findings. Here we describe the case of an 82-year-old woman whose gallbladder was twisted clockwise 360° around its pedicle. Ultrasound examination showed marked thickening of the gallbladder wall, which contained a sonolucent layer. Color Doppler sonography failed to obtain a flow signal from the thickened gallbladder wall, confirming ischemic change in the gallbladder wall secondary to torsion of the gallbladder, thus increasing diagnostic confidence.
