Ultrasonographic studies were performed on 3 patients with acute small intestinal anisakiasis. All the cases had a history of eating raw fish and were daiagnosed as anisakiasis by Barium study. Ultrasonographic studies showed thickening of the small intestinal wall at the site of the worm extending for 10∼20 cm, and the small intestine proximal to the lesion showed marked dilatation due to ileus. Among 5 ultrasonographical layers of the small intestinal wall, the second and third layers, which were thought to be mucosal and submucosal layers, were thickened.
