Mass screening for hepatocellular carcinoma were made on 5 occasions using real-time ultrasound and serum battery tests consisting of RIA assays of tumor markers and liver function tests. Subjects with previous history of chronic hepatitis or HB antigen carriers, most of them were the members of Chronic Liver Disease Patients Assoc., were selected for examination. A total of 986 cases were examined and 87 lesions were identified. Among them 11 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, 48 cases with gallstone diseases, 18 cases with gallbladder polyp, 10 cases with hepatic hemangioma were found.
